O.T.O., or Ordo Templi Orientis (Order of Oriental Templars), is dedicated to individual liberty and advancement in Light, Wisdom, Understanding, Knowledge, and Power. This is achieved through Beauty, Courage, and Wit, based on Universal Brotherhood.
The O.T.O. was the first major Old Aeon order to accept Aleister Crowley's The Book of the Law, received in 1904. This book announced a New Aeon for humanity, centered on the Law of Thelema: "Do what thou wilt." This isn't a call to indulgence, but a mandate to discover and accomplish one's True Will, allowing others to do the same. As stated, "Every man and every woman is a star."
While fulfilling the Law of Thelema is an individual journey, many seekers benefit from the information, guidance, fellowship, and opportunities to serve that O.T.O. provides.
Originally affiliated with European Masonry, O.T.O. is no longer a Masonic organization, though it shares some traditions. O.T.O. operates local bodies worldwide, and most members participate in them.
